A collage is group of photos that are put into a designed form, the images are put into a a shape that represents a theme. The word collage comes from France and means gluing.
b) What are they used for?
They are used in many modern art forms and can include bits of fabric or snippets of newspapers or magazines. The can convey a theme that will be used to spread awareness of a certain topic and can help gain people's favour for world problems such as global warming or poverty etc. Collages may be used for diagnosing and treating psychological illnesses by making the patients aware of any problems that they may have. It can be abstract or have a definite theme and might even be in the shape of something that it represents. The collage can take on many shapes.

I am creating a collage to spread awareness about a certain topic/theme that will represent an issue in the world that has little awareness or the gravity of its situation in the world. I think that the collage needs to spread throughout the internet for people to understand and share.
